Smart Platform Promotional Tour in Asia

The Techcross smart platform, which provides a better user environment through IT technology, has been installed and utilised in ships since 2022. This smart platform stores and analyses all operational data of the BWMS in real time, allowing for checks anytime and anywhere, helping to prevent equipment malfunctions before they occur. As the precision of the results increases with accumulated data, installing a smart platform is recommended not only for Techcross but also for the customer convenience.

As part of these efforts, a promotional tour for the smart platform was actively conducted in the UK, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore during the first half of this year. The advantages and efficiency of the smart platform were showcased during visits to approximately 50 shipyards and shipowners in these countries. Despite its simple installation method, the smart platform reduces potential future issues, saving time and costs associated with problem-solving, which greatly benefits customers. Moreover, customers express deep interest in promotional benefits such as free installation and usage fees within this year.

In particular, the security system has been strengthened to offer a safer operation environment starting this year. Progress is currently being made in obtaining IACS UR E27 type approval from domestic and international classification societies, which will enhance the management and protection of system and data resources, as well as the security of user accounts and confidential information. The smart platform, offering Al analysis based on big data, not only delivers high-quality information to customers but also enables Techcross to develop high-quality equipment.

Launches New Periodic Inspection Support Service for BWMS

Techcross, a leading company in the BWMS (ballast water management system) industry, launched a new periodic inspection support service for BWMS at the end of May. When a ship equipped with Techcross systems applies for this service before conducting a regular inspection, it can receive a comprehensive service package, not only checking for any abnormalities in the system, but also providing various technical support, purchasing materials, and addressing various requests required by classification societies and flag states. Additionally, a free installation of a smart platform that enables efficient operation and proactive troubleshooting of the BWMS is provided, along with a discount on purchasing materials or performing additional calibration services when signing up for this periodic inspection support service.

The BWMS periodic inspection support service is available in various regions where Techcross has overseas offices, including South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, Singapore, and the Netherlands. This ensures that customers can access the support they need. (Enquiry to as.managers@techcross.com)

Completion of Next-generation Green Hydrogen Water Electrolysis Facility Demonstration

On April 9, a ceremony was held at the demonstration facility site of the Taean Power Plant in Chungcheongnam-do Province to commemorate the successful completion of the "Next-generation Green Hydrogen Water Electrolysis Facility Demonstration", jointly conducted by the 3 companies: Techcross, Korea Western Power, and KIER (Korea Institute of Energy Research).

This event celebrated the successful construction and operation of a 50kW water electrolysis facility capable of producing about 1kg of green hydrogen per hour, which started in January 2021 aiming at integrating an alkaline water electrolysis system with variable loads linked to solar power generation. Significant achievements were made during this process, including the development of core water electrolysis technology, improvement of core material performance, expansion of cell area, and development of stack and auxiliary systems.

Compare to the existing first-generation alkaline water electrolysis technology, which required a large and expensive energy storage system (ESS) to stabilize the fluctuating output of renewable energy, the newly demonstrated technology can connected to renewable energy directly with a minimum-scale ESS. This method leads to reduced installation space and costs, extended service life, and thanks to the stacked design, allows for easy capacity expansion up to 250kW.

Techcross, responsible for the optimal design and operation of the water electrolysis system in this demonstration project, has developed the leading domestic technology to respond to the intermittency and variability of renewable energies beyond solar power. Techcross plans to commercialise the 250kW system by early 2025 and scale up to MW capacity by 2026.

Attends ESG Management Capability Enhancement Support Project

On June 10, Techcross attended the kick-off meeting for the "ESG Management Capability Enhancement Support Project" organised by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency at the Busan Chamber of Commerce & Industry. In addition to Techcross, 3 other main contractors selected for the ESG management cooperation model also attended this event and shared opinions to promote the spread of ESG management among Busan-based companies. The attendees focused on improving ESG management levels and ratings within the local community, promoting ESG management capabilities by analysing best practices, sharing the latest information, and discovering ESG incentives.

Meanwhile, Techcross received an A grade in the 2024 ESG evaluation conducted by the KPC (Korea Productivity Centre) & MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy), demonstrating its strong commitment to and active implementation of ESG management.

Grand Prize at 2024 Quality Circle Contest

Techcross won the grand prize at the "2024 Busan Metropolitan City Quality Circle Contest" held on June 12. A quality circle refers to a small group that actively identifies work-related problems and finds solutions in the workplace. In this event, 14 quality circles from 9 companies participated and presented their practices across 18 sectors. Techcross achieved an opportunity to challenge for the President's Award at the National Quality Circle Contest which will be held from August 26 to 30 at the Suwon Convention Centre, thanks to their award in the field improvement sector.
